75 Mile Beach on Fraser Island is a gazetted highway; does that mean it shouldn't be driven on "in ignorance"? The entire island is essentially one big beach, how is anyone supposed to get around?
There are usually laws as to which beaches you can drive on, and often you have to pay to be able to drive on them. Yes most beaches shouldn't be driven on, but there are legitimate areas to do so, and as such such an attack is out of line.

Still doesnt make it a good idea.
No nature area should be driven on in ignorance, legal or not.
If you consider being told "youre ignorant" to be an attack, you need to be quite sure of, but equally willing to re evaluate, your position.
The OP had not specified why or where. Leaving me ignorant of all the facts. Even that i now have them, my position hasnt changed.

However we build roads out of metal/gravel, not sand....
If it needs 4x4, then no, awd is not it. If its just some steeper, sliprier, or 'unpaved' you will be fine.
