I am in USA. Mine did not come with manual hand shifters on the wheel, so no my car does not look like pics. The house we are renting requires 4wd to get to it no paved roads.

 

Beside the "D" does it have a position with +/-? If so, that's tiptronic, and you can choose a gear that way.

at least 50% of my driving is done on unpaved roads. In a heavy fwd.
However we build roads out of metal/gravel, not sand....

If it needs 4x4, then no, awd is not it. If its just some steeper, sliprier, or 'unpaved' you will be fine.

 

and asides from D, dont autos still have 1 2 sometimes 3 before it?? And overdrive, turn that off.

No + or - just p r n d D's and l and a button to turn overdrive off. My car has a 4 wheel lock position. I was told when I purchased it this car had awd and 4wd because of this option.
