Default DRL Alternative: newbie question

Hey fellow outtie lovers, I'm a newbie to the forums and I recently got a stock '08 Outlander SE 2.4L CVT. Love it so far. I'm always seeking ways to improve performs though, especially in the torque area. Suggestions are always welcome.

But on to my question, I've been lurking around reading past posts but wasn't able to find a direct answer.

Right now my the low beams are used for DRL is there a way to redirect that 9v power to the high beams (which I rearly use as I live in the city)? Essentially using them in a dimmed fashion. Later on I would Like to install HIDs in the low Beam lamps but not run them as DRL.

Even better would be to somehow install side emitting LEDs as DRL.

Thanks for any thoughts and suggestsions

for my HID install, i actually tapped off the parking lights and eliminated the DRL. i kept going though ballasts even with the relay set up when i tried to use the plug and play harness... after 5 ballasts i said screw it and soldered in conectors off the parking lights and it was worked great now for over 5 months

Nice lights!

I'm trying to accomplish something similar to this guys mod I found. Click the video.

On the Outlanders does the DRL power run on a seperate circuit to the low beams, thus the low beam switch?
