I recently upgraded to led high and low beams. When the drls are on there's fast flickering from the headlights that go away when I turn on the headlights. The manufacturer said this might be a problem and I might need a resistor. So I bought a set of plug and play for that issue but didn't solve anything. Any help.
Although you did not specify your model, Mitsubishi vehicles have DRLs that are voltage modulated. When the DRL is on (either when low or high beam is used to carry this function, most Outlander Sport and Outlander models (except GT), respectively) the voltage oscillates between 0 and 12V with an average of 8 V or so. Halogen bulbs tolerate well this voltage modulation but the HID and LED bulbs burn out prematurely besides their annoying flickering. Resistors connected in parallel work well for LED turn signals to eliminate hyper flashing but they do not eliminate the flickering of DRLs as the source of these are different. If you want to keep your LED light you have to install an independent DRL and program the ETACS (either disable DRL or assign the foglight as DRLs but then you need to change the ordinary foglight to the kind like the #8 post here (which has two bulbs: one works as fog light and the smaller as DRL, this type of foglight was installed to the top models of Outlanders and Outlander Sports for markets, where DRL is mandatory). In the end there is no plug and play solution.
Well I somehow managed to get the drls turned off. So now they're always on full power, if I turn it to the marker lights then the headlights go off and then I put it all the way forward they all come on like normal.
I tried the not present as well as indipendant but all flickered. It wasn't until I disconnected the battery as I was getting codes and errors https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mitsubishi-outlander-10/coding-not-completed-errors-such-54814/ that I turned the vehicle back on and now the drls are disabled.
I just noticed that the rear lights are on as well just as if you turned the lights on. The only difference is the climate controls are dark untill the lights are switched on.
<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Several of my friends had wiring problems when they switched to LEDs. Maybe they just wired it wrong, but the bulbs didn't work correctly. My friend said they were blinking or going off completely. I bought special LEDs for fog lights on vont.com that would work like spotlights on headlights. Those spotlights didn't turn off for me, and the regular LED lights from Vont work well too. If even this good firm will let you down, it's clearly about your car or your ability to hook up the equipment. Look for the problem not in the bulbs but the cable or switch. You may be able to spot the breakage.
