If you're having trouble getting the .iso patch to install, try this...
Hey all,
I have a 30.99 Lancer, but I am assuming that this will help anyone who is attempting to install the patch...if you have burned the .iso file to disc, put it in your car to install, and received the "check disc" message, then try this...
When you burn an .iso file to a Data Disc, the .iso image is burned, but the actual .iso data does not follow suit. What you need to do is use Burning Software that gives you a Copy option (Data, Audio, Video, Copy). This will make a complete copy of the .iso file, not just the image.
I have a mac so I use a free program called Burn, which is PERFECT. just google "burn osx" and it'll pop right up. If you have windows, try the free program Active@ ISO Burner or simply google "ISO Burning Software".
Step 1) download the patch in .rar form from CRAZY1977's post on 1/4/10 (it's on page 96 of this forum)
Step 2) Unzip the .rar file, which will open the .iso file (if you use windows then use winzip. if you have a mac, try an app call the unarchiver). Save the .iso file somewhere on your computer where you can access it.
Step 3) Insert a blank CD-R disc into your computer and open your .iso burning software. Choose the "Copy" option from your software and either drag the .iso file in or browse/locate the file to open it in the software. Once the .iso file is ready to burn then burn that sucker! I suggest burning at the slowest speed for the most accuracy, but it really does not matter.
Step 4) Turn your car on and insert the disc. KEEP YOUR CAR IN PARK, don't drive away! Your car will "check for the disc" and then a screen will prompt you to download the new software and choose "YES." Your nav screen will go white with a few red bars to show that it is downloading. When it is finished, your nav screen will read a message along the lines of "New Software Recognized, Ready to Download." Choose "NO" to this prompt. You will then be prompted to remove the disc, which you will do at this point.
Step 5) Put in a DVD and drive away. Everything should work fine!
I would recommend keeping your patch disc somewhere in your car in the event that you have to reinstall the software. I hope this helps!!!!!

Well, there has to be a way we an figure out how to do this. If I assume correctly, the OS is a simple WinCE based image with a kernel (XIP), IMGFS, and FATFS. We just need to figure out how to completely disassemble LOADING.KWI into SYS, ROM, and OEM packages, set up a WINCE kitchen, make changes, and recook the ROM Image. I am sure that the DVD in motion patch isn't much more than a registry setting or something. Now, just to figure it out...

Great Directions for 00.30.99!!!
I have an 09 Lancer GTS with 00.30.99. Followed these directions to a "T" and FINALLY my DVD in Motion is off. With two kids, and not quite enough tech. expertise to crack open my system, and not quite enough funds for LCD headrests.... this is awesome!

After the 30.99 Patch Question.....
Thank You Otaku! I have the 30.99 version and the patch worked great! I have a question for everyone out there though. I am not sure what the issue may be or if it is something to do with the patch which is probably not the case but who knows. I burn movies to a dvd+r to watch in the unit. The problem I get too often is the dreaded " Focus Error - Please Eject Disc ". I am using Verbatim 16x Single-Layer discs. I burn at 16x. Now they usually work. I have discs that are completely clean and they get that error. It seems lately I play it for a while and then go to work and come out 10 hours later and I get the Focus Error. Could it be the Laser? For some reason I do not think so since other discs play. I need recommendations for the discs and how fast the burn speed should be. I have scratched discs that play fine...weird huh? Please give me some input.....would dvd-r discs be better?
