DVD player will not play DVDs

DVD player will not play DVDs
I have tried putting the key in every position with the car in every gear and it will NOT play DVDs. I can only hear the audio. It accepts the DVD, but gives me a message that says "Enjoy music while driving."
Not sure if I hooked something up wrong when I installed it, if it needs to be updated or just needs to be curb-stomped.
Thoughts?
