extended warranty info
Dealer is offering extended warranty for zero interest rate.
We did not buy the extended warranty when we bought our used Outlander with less than 4500 miles. She now has almost 15k miles. So far so good...the only issues I have are: map light stopped working and the oem tires. No big deal- probably just a burnt out bulb. I already bought new set of tires for better handling. Anyway, could you guys share how much you've paid for an extended warranty? Are there different kinds(coverage) of this warranty offered by the dealers? Thanks.

In UK I paid £600 for 3 yr unlimited mileage warranty provided by Mitsubishi UK, well worth it,; In first year of cover I have had the turbo unit and ECU replaced free of further charge, without warranty it would have cost me around £1800 in total!

When I bought my Outlander in 08, the dealer tried to sell me a 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty from Mitsubishi. Basically the warranty extended the things covered by the 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty to 7 year 100,000 miles. It covered a few other things like road hazard for the tires and reimbursement of expenses if vehicle breaks down and you get stuck over 50 miles from home.
I didn't take it, but the dealer was willing to sell it for $1200. I believe the full price was around $1500. One word of advice. Stay away from 3rd party warranties and if you do buy get the one from Mitsubishi.

Is that price with zero deductable?
Oh yes, I will definitely stick with Mitsubishi warranty if the price is really affordable. I've also heard of "deal-switching" of dealers during negotiations. They will sell you brand A, and switch it to brand B during contract signing.
I did buy a 3rd party warranty once for another car, but ended up cancelling it after I found out the lousy, runaround tactics this warranty company was using thru dealers and shops' experiences.

I seem to remember there was a deductable either $50 or $100 on repairs. Sorry it was over 3 and half years ago so some of the details about it are fuzzy. Also just to clarify this warranty did NOT cover wear items like belts, hoses, brake pads, wiper blades, etc. I specifically asked about those and was told no.
