Fife Mitsubishi (Scotland) - The dealer who refuses to service!
I think I've been transported to communist North Korea! My local Mitsubishi dealer, namely FIFE MITSUBISHI in Cupar has refused to service my 2010 Outlander "because I didn't buy it there".
I'm lost for words (that can be published on this forum)!

You should
immediately contact mitsubishi europe (UK) and let them know about this. I would bet being a mitsu dealer in europe precludes them pulling something that.

I would say normally "their loss" but as Mitsubishi dealers aren't that common your going to be majorly inconvenienced getting to another one. There is another in Kirkcaldy but that's the same owner so may have the same stance.
I have the c-crosser and was quoted £286 for a service there. That's more than I paid for my Freelander. Sod that, I'm paying an indie £100 to do oi instead!

Already spoke to Mitsubishi UK. To give them credit their Managing Director has asked for the case to be investigated.
However, and unfortunately, I'll have to sell the Outlander. I travel globally almost every week with my job so taking the car to another dealer further away is not practical.
I was about to dump £35K into an Evo X in addition to the Outy but thats no longer on the radar. Will replace the Outy and one of my other cars (a BMW M5) with a newer M5.
I was always warned Fife Mitsubishi and it's sister franchises were sub-standard. My close friend is still waiting for parts ordered for his Shogun (Pajero) gearbox 5 years ago from Fife Mitsubishi. The car was sold many moons ago.
As a sub note Tomo. When I tried to book the car into the Kirkcaldy branch they told me they weren't experts in Mitsubishi (despite being a franchised service location). The irony is (of course) that the Outlander is 99% the same as a the C-Crosser and they are also a Citroen dealer.
Oh, and to close, my business partner ordered a new glovebox lid for a Citroen C4 he was retailing, from FIFE CITROEN (FIFE MITSUBISHI/FIFE HYUNDAI Kirkcaldy) or whatever they are called in Dec 10. Despite several chasing calls he's still waiting. Car was sold in Feb 11 with a broken glovebox lid.
Moral of the story is don't buy a car brand if your only local option to service is with a with hillbilly dealer. I'm going back to Honda and BMW who's dealers have yet to let me down. Sad but true!

Thanks for the recommendation Steve, but the car is only a year old, still under warranty and covered by the Mitsubishi 3 years service plan. I don't think I should have to pay to have the car serviced or repaired.
TBH, I'm finished with Mitsubishi. With 99% of car makers & dealers in this country desperate for business I don't see why I should put myself out.
Shameful situation.

I'm in the US so I know nothing about UK laws, but I do have a question. How does the 3 year Mitsubishi service plan sold in the UK work. Does it only apply to the dealer where you bought the vehicle or does it apply to any Mitsubishi dealer in the UK.
If the service plan applies to any UK Mitsubishi dealer then both Mitsubishi and Fife are not honoring the service contract and I would say report them to the proper authorities. Even if you decide to sell your Outlander you should take them to court and get a refund of the service contract since they are refusing to honor the contract.

Thought an update was in order. Mitsubishi UK investigated this issue with FIFE Mitsubishi and as result these clowns have "agreed to service my Mitsubishi" but won't collect or deliver it.
According to Mitsubishi UK each of the franchisees are at liberty to chose who they do or do not support. I'm still laughing several weeks after being told that.
Of course there's no way I would hand my car over to FIFE Mitsubishi after this unnecessary debacle. Would you?
Final nail in my Mitsubishi coffin? The best trade-in value I can get on my sub 5k miles, 16 month old Outlander is £9K (or 40%) less than I paid for it (and I got a sizeable discount when new).
In the UK at least, please, please, don't blow your money on this niche brand with worthless dealers. Buy something else........anything else.....
