Help!
Hello everyone,
I have a 2011 Outlander Sport SE (U.S version). I recently had the oil changed by a private mechanic and am now noticing the engine gets suddenly louder while driving around 3500 rpm. I can't really explain it, but it's definitely not normal for the car. I should also note that the Check Engine Soon light recently turned on as well. I intend on taking the car into the dealer this weekend since it's still under warranty, but I'm really curious as to what the cause might be.
Any ideas? Much appreciated.
Andrew

Did you check your oil levels with the dip stick to make sure they were good?
(you would probably have a low oil pressure warning if this happened but you should manually check it)
What kind of sound is it making at 3500?
The code would be useful...

The louder engine noise could be the air filter cover not being put on the right way. It's a pain in the butt to get right. Even if the holdown clamps are tight if the back of the filter housing isn't aligned properly it will leave a gap and you can hear it sucking in air. I've had a couple different shops do that. There is a thread somewhere on how to line everything up properly. Now I tell the shops not to check the air filter.
