Hello All,

I have an Outlander 2009 and originally came with 16" rims, I recently buy 18" rims and the new tire size is 225/55/R18

Now I have a TPM warning on!

Any suggestion how to remove the warning message?

my guess would be to go to the mitsu dealer and have the techs there calibrate the tire pressure sensor. Im not sure how to do it on your own, but im sure you will get an answer here soon enough.

 

1. Where did you get the wheels from, and where was it installed?
2. Do you know if the new rims have TMPS or not.

Go out and look at your 18's. Does it have a plastic, a "computer" valve stem. Or does it have a black rubber one. If you have a rubber one, you can physiclly wiggle the valve steam. With a plastic one, you cant, or else it breaks.

Plastic Valve stem = You have TMPS on your new wheels.
Rubber Valve stem = You DONT have TMPS on your new wheels.

With a rubber valve stem, these is no hope of getting the tire light out. Only way is to purchase a set of plastic valve stems.

If you have plastic valve stem, but the light is still on, then there could be only 2 problems.

1. These are brand new plastic valve stems that has never been computerized to the vehicle's computer.
If thats the case, go look at your 16' wheels, does it also have a plastic valve stem?

2. These are old plastic valve stems that you HAD on your 16' wheels and the installation place remove them, and install them on your new rims. IF thats the case, the tire light should NOT come on. Only reason it came in is because tire pressure is low, which is rare, considering you just had tires done, or the mechanic damage your plastic valve stems when installing, which happens often if the mechanic doesn't know what he is doing.
