Default Horn beeps twice when unlocking

Hello all, i'm new, but i did try searching for this "issue" amongst older threads and what not, even tried google searches.

I bought my inlaw's 2007 Outlander LS two weeks ago and am loving it for being 11 years old its in stellar shape.

anyways, when unlocking with the included non-smart keyfob the horn honks twice with no lights flash. when locking it beeps once on the first go and flashes the lights twice. I found two threads that discuss this being fixed by doing the hold lock button for 5 seconds, followed by while holding lock then hold unlock for 5 seconds then let go of unlock first and then lock in that order. I do this with the driver door open, i can hear the dashboard chime 1, 2, or 4 times indicating that its supposed to be changing, but nothing changes from its current settings of unlock=two honks no lights and lock=one honk two light flashes

I don't have factory nav so i can't change it from the onboard settings menu.

ultimately i would like it to NOT honk when unlocking at all and only honk when i press the lock button twice. I leave for work early in the morning and having it honk twice isn't cool.

So if anyone has any insight on how to accomplish this, it's greatly appreciated.
