I bought my '07 Outy a little less than a year ago. It was from a dealer, but it had 11,600 miles on it when I purchased it. I had the tires rotated at 15,000 miles (following the owners manual of every 7500 miles). I noticed they had the air pressure pretty high whenever I first got it home, so I brought that down to spec. I am now at about 20,000 miles with it and I just had it inspected. My mechanic said that the front tires are at 3/32...and the minimum is considered 2/32. What's strange is the left rear is 4/32 and the right rear is 6/32. The Outy seems to track straight without any trouble.

Anyway, how long have your stock tires lasted? 20,000 miles seems pretty sad!

Its difficult to say how long OEM tires should last, but manufacturers usually put softer compound tires on their vehicles for a smoother ride, but they also wear out quicker.

The tire manufacturer not mitsubishi is responsible for the warranty on the tires, so you may want to take your outtie in to them to see what they say.

 

I just replaced mine...I was at about 30k...tread was getting pretty low and I could feel some slight slipping in the rain...I got Pirelli P6000s...I hated the Goodyear LS-2s that came oem.

 

I'm not impressed by the Yokohama Geolanders that came on my ES. I figure if I can get 25,000 miles on them I'll be happy and repalce them at that time.

 

The Goodyears LS2 that came on mine where such bad tires!
But really, it depends on what condition you drive in and such. I drove through 2 Canadian winters on these 4 season tires. I'm at only 37,000 Km's now, and I plan to drive it till winter hits again next year.

Mitsubishi should of choose better tires than these. These are expensive itself, dont last long, and makes loud road noises. With the price of the Goodyears, you can get a good set of Yokohamas for similar or cheaper price, better performance tires, etc.

Still running Geolanders at 31k miles. They will probably last another year or so.

 

change my oem Geolanders at 24 000, not to much left at them lol, i put a good set of Pirelli Scorpion

 

update, just about to turn 40,000 miles on them...looks like my front end is out of alignment and outer part of tire is getting worn pretty bad. May have to change them out this winter. We'll see how bad it snows.

 

Im at 35,000 mi with my Goodyear's. They are basically bald on the sides. Would of replaced by now if it was winter. But now its getting to the point to do it very soon before road conditions get worse.

I would say 20k mi would be pretty early, unless you are driving like Jeff Gordon all the time
