So I found out my Outlander needs a new ignition switch. The cost for the part I was quoted $125 plus $50 for labor. OR I can try putting it in myself. I cannot find a diagram or video that shows me how. From the mechanics perspective he told me I basically had to rip out the whole steering column to replace it. Anyways, is this the part?

I've yet to take it apart, but are there wires associated with it? Because he told me the wires were no good either. Let me know if you can help me save some money!

The labor price seems reasonable to me, probably an estimate at 1 hr at standard shop rate.

 

Should just be plug and play, but you'll have to take all the steering plastics off. $50 is extremely reasonable to have them do it.
