Just got my 2008 Outlander
Hi, I just bought a 2008 Outlander with 1500 miles on it and took it on vacation it now has 4800 miles and I had the oil changed at about 3200 at Wal-Mart's Tire Lube Express and now when I acclerate it is a bit noisier than before I took it in to be changed. They put the right oil in it and checked all fluids. I just do not understand how it can get louder after having it serviced. Any help in this Matter would be greatly appreciated. I am still on vacation and when i get back I am going to have the dealer check it out for me also.
First, have you checked your oil level to see if it is full?
Lift the hood, start up the vehicle and have someone press on the accelerator while you check to see if anything appears loose in the engine compartment.
Also double check the air filter box and air dam leading to the box to make sure everything is secure. Its possible the tech at WalMart opened it up to check your air filter and didn't get it secure when putting it back together. I don't know if this would cause more noise, but its still worth checking.
If you're really sure the engine is noisier when accelerating, and you can't find anything obvious, it may be a good idea to have either an outlander dealer or reputable repair shop check it out before driving the vehicle any long distance.

DON'T go to the mega stores like Walmart for anything. I'm sure you can find a better place. My local dealership honors any coupon or price in town for oil changes as well as offering the fifth one free. Often these cheapo places don't care about lifting the particular vehicle in the right frame spots and don't adjust their impact wrenches to the right torque setting for the specific car. I've heard so many times of cars being damaged from not being put on the lift properly or the oil pan bolt being stripped out.
