I have a 2007 Outlander XLS 2wd and it makes a knocking noise about 5 seconds after I put it into gear and take off. I took it to a Mitsu dealership and they first said that they didn't hear it and then said it was the ABS system testing itself and that all Outlanders make that noise. Does that make sense to anyone?

 

Yes it's the ABS system self test as discuss in many thread. I have a 2007 XLS ans it does the same thing.

 

I hear different knocking sound. After a warm up I stop and let it sit idling when I hear a constant knocking sound.

 

I appreciate the input. Maybe I can sleep tonight. I've also had problems with the front end making popping noises. The Mitsu dealer has already replaced one of the hubs, but it continues to do it..mostly when the wheels are cut sharp. Any idea what that might be? Every experienced that?

in any case I wouldn't worry about any noises because the car is under warranty for a long long time, or is it not?

 

I find it easier to sleep with my car running and the garage door closed. Waking up is the hard part.
