Default KOS on a 2010 VRX Outlander

Hi again.

I have another question on my NZ 2010 Outlander VRX concerning the KOS system.

The 2 button KOS remote as you know has the key hidden into the unit and if required for an emergency you just slip the key out.

It was my belief that if the 2 button remote failed, that you could slide out the key, take the cover off the keyless ignition and insert the emergency key to start the vehicle.......is this correct ?????

I ask this because I have tried both emergency keys from the remotes without the remote near the vehicle to start the car, and although it unlocks the doors turns on the ignition to the start position, and then when making the final turn to start the motor nothing happens. Of course, if the remote is in the car and you use the emergency key in the ignition, all starts well.

Does anyone know anything about this if the emergency key is indeed supposed to start the car if a failure of the remote happens.

I hope you all had a happy new year.

Emergency key by itself is just a mechanical unlocking tool for driver's door and steering wheel locks, for a cases like car's battery being dead.

Excellent thanks for that info Vadimus, saves me having to look at getting that sorted.

Am I correct the KOS works even if the battery is flat in the remote ????? like the connection between the KOS and vehicle are not reliant on the battery in the remote and all the battery does is to lock and unlock the doors with the buttons.

Cheers

I think it's rfid and takes no power... You need to put the key inside the fob backwards where it came out of and turn the key to start with the fob...

It's in the owners manual...

You get a message on the screen when the fob battery is low before it dies...
