Last word on EPB Outlander ES 2.4 Year 2019 and similar
I just completed replacing my rear brakes and EPB, and it was easier than I thought. The Internet can be excellent for inducing fear for nothing, here is my method which worked and without any unpleasant surprises.
1- Remove the parking brake
2- Disconnect the car battery, chock front wheels, remove wheel or wheels if you do both side at the same time
3-Disconnect one or both calipers
4-Use a 12 volt or even 9 volt battery (I haven't tried 9v) with jumpers connected at the caliper terminal to re-insert the device that activates the parking brake within the caliper. Pay attention to the direction of rotation, if the piston comes out reverse the wires, (polarity) Wait until its fully backed up
5- Compress the caliper pistons as before
6-Replace the brakes, put the wheels back on, put the car on the ground
7- Press the brake pedal several times
8- Reconnect the car battery
9- Start the car and activate the parking brake
You will hear the mechanism returning to its applied position, of course we can hear it at that moment for much longer than usual.
No computer, no mode, no weird sequence to do, simple like that
