Default Parking/handbrake adjustment

My driveway is uphill, so i always use parking brake. But lately i noticed its only holding my outlander if i pull all the way up. I checked my rear pads, they are worn, but not to the point that i have to change it. Is there a way to adjust handbrake?

If the pads are still good, then maybe you just need to take some extra slack out. When you take the rear wheels off, you should see a rubber plug at the bottom of the rotors. Pull the plug out and you should be able to see the adjuster for the parking brake. Use a flat-tipped screw driver to turn the adjuster.
I forget which way to turn it, but turn it until the pads touch the rotor, so the disc scrapes or won't turn AND then turn the adjuster back 5 notches.
When you put the wheels back on, they should spin freely and the parking brake lever should only have to be raised a little bit to set the brakes now.

Be carefull you are looking at the right correct pads. Emergency brakes are actually on the inner side of the rear brake disc. The brake disc resembles a top hat. Emergency brake hardware resides on the inside and uses the top hat piece like a drum.

Here is a link to the emergency brake shoes/pads.

to inspect, you'll have to remove the wheel and probably the rotor/disc.
