Default Locking passengers inside while engine running

Hi: Is there a way to lock passengers inside the car while the engine is running? Say I want to run to the atm to get cash while passengers wait inside the car. I would want to lock them in for safety. Whenever I press lock on with the driver side door open, it pops right back to unlock. Thanks.

You have to close the driver's door first. If I run in someplace and my wife is in the car (passenger front seat) she locks the doors from her side with no problems after I close the driver's door.

But no, you can't lock it.

I find this highly annoying. It gets very cold here in the winter. I like to go out and start my car, but there is no way to lock it. You can't hit the lock button on the door handle, or on the key fob.

OK, you're saying you can't lock it from the key remote. Never tried it that way.

Default try this

when you get into the car, hit the unlock on the key fob once so only the driver's door unlocks. Start the car. Get out. Close the door. With a second key, put it into the outside lock on the door turn it. the door will lock and the only way to unlock is, again, with the key into the door. One point to know, if you turn the key the wrong way (I forget which, clockwise or counter) you unlock all the doors instead of just locking the driver's door. You then get to start over.

Default frustration

[Today I spent almost 500 bucks to buy a second jkey to run my car and have it locked.
But nothing works to lock it.
