Default Long idle time

In an effort to follow the manual on my '13 Outlander Sport, I allow the coolant display to show up and I let the rpm on my tach go from about 1500 down to 1000 before I put it in drive. I purchased the vehicle about 3 months ago and noticed that regardless of the temps (was in the 60/70 degrees when I bought it to 30's/40's now) it always takes approx. 4 minutes to get down to 1000 rpm. My wife's Chevy Cruze takes about 30 seconds to do the same thing after I start it up. I don't think it has taken any of my past vehicles to take this long either. Is this normal or should I have something checked? Or should I just stop letting it idle down before I drive it?
Thanks in advance!!

Nottt...normal...I would have it checked out for sure...sounds like a simple thermostat fix to me...I'm guessing you have some Warranty left...so they should be able to fix it. Good Luck!!

When I start my '13 SE - it goes right to 950 ish. Something's going on - have the dealer fix it. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I'll go to the dealer next week and give them the lowdown. Hopefully they can diagnose.
