Looking to buy used 2014+ Outlander with 50K miles. How is CVT reliability ?
I am looking to purchased used a 2014+ Outlander. I found several 2014, 2015 with about 50,000 miles going for $13,000 and certified which will give me 10 year 100,000 miles warranty. Since a 2014 model is made in 2013, the warranty should be good for another 4 years.
The biggest concern I have is the CVT reliability. I believe the CTV is similar version that is in the Nissan Rogue which is plagued by premature failures. Also the old Mitsubishi 2.4 had oil burning issues.
How reliable is the CVT in the Outlander?
Any issue with engine burning oil?
Thanks

Better double-check your warranty details. As far as I know, the 10/100,000 warranty is only available to the first owner and is not transferable. Does being certified change that? As far as your CVT question goes, I can't speak for it myself, as mine has the 6-speed. But I haven't read many posts on this forum related to problems with the CVT, and I read the forums fairly regularly.
