MIT-IPOD for 2007 Outlander without NAV but with AUX

I have a 2007 Outlander LS with the stock single CD radio and I wanted to hook up the MIT-POD connector so that I can listen to my IPod.

I have confirmed that I have AUX support by pressing the 'CD' button for 2 seconds. The display does change to 'AUX' so I beleive it is supported. I also do not have an AUX cable running to the back of the center console.

The diagram on the back of the MIT-POD packaging says I need to hook into a 22 PIN connector. There is no 22 PIN connector on the back of the radio. There is an 18 PIN and a 20 PIN connector. I have no idea which pins to connect to right now.

This post 07 Ipod connection for version without navigation led me to believe that I needed to connect the red and white wires to pins 4 and 13 of the 18 PIN connector and connect the black wire to pin 14. I tried this with no success. Any idea which are the valid pins for this model?

Here are some photos of my situation;

Thanks.

Hi
like i tell to an other guy on the forum today,
you should have a RCA plug in the back of the middle console at the back, you should found your RCA cable.

Welcome to forum KonaDag. About your installation, look here (https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=32790), in post # 3 by solution.

Good luck :)

Thanks for your replies armymen and jsrd.

There is no RCA jack on the back of my console. Must not be present in the 2007 Canadian LS model.

I hooked mine up as you suggested JSRD but still got nothing... well almost nothing. One time I did get sound out of the speakers but it sounds terrible, almost like I borrowed my dad's old pocket transistor radio and plugged the IPOD into that. After taking it out again and checking that everything was hooked up correctly, I could never get IPOD sound through the car speakers again.

I also emailed Precision Interface Electronics (PIE) to see if they had any suggestion and they said they had a customer who was able to make it work with the red and white wires in the same location but the black wire was in PIN slot 18. I tried that but that did not work either.

Another thread suggested that a good place to connect the two power wires was the front cigarette lighter (or whatever PC term is used for that today). I didn't bother hooking those up for my test and I am wondering if the IPod requires power through these (I assume it is the USB VBUS power and ground) for it to send audio signals through the 30 IPod connector?

4 Attachment(s)
i have read your post.

i dun think i can do the same cos i dun have the D123 VTR Connector
Attachment 6857
Attachment 6858

Attachment 6859

so i'm thinking that connecting direct to the back of the audio unit C-15 is the only way WITHOUT buying the D123
Attachment 6860

Any ideas? - same problem

Hi,
I have a 2007 Outlander with no built in sat-nav/mmcs and I have purchased the mit-pod but where it says it needs a 14 pin or 22 pin connector, there is an 18pin connector. the radio does flash up an aux channel when the button is held down. There is no cable in the back of the driver's armrest like in some of the pictures in other threads.
Has anyone in this situation had success in getting it to work? I'm not even after a solution that charges my ipod (it's a newer ipod), just one that can play the ipod through the stereo.
thanks alot for any help,
tobyt

One solution could be:

1: add a set of RCA in the arm rest, it is pre-wired, just get a module from the dealer and hook it up ($70)

2: buy a 12volt USB port and plug-into the 12v out in the arm rest ($15)

3: buy a set of RCA out cable from apple ($60, on sale could be $30)

total cost would be from $120 to $150. you need max 30min to get this done.

that's what I did...
