Mit Outlander XLS AWD with navigation - do i need to update the navigation map?
Hi: I bought my 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS AWD with navigation and luxury package in the US. I had to update the CDDB version from Ver.1626-0000 to Ver. xxxx-2281. I need advice on whether i need to update the version of the map in the navigation system. The POI is extremely inefficient in the navigation system. I was parked right in front of walgreens and the map was unable to identify the POI. This walgreens is open for decades. The map version says it is 2008. Is there an option with the same version that i can find all POIs or do i need to update the map software just like how i updated the CDDB gracenote version. Can someone help me with this? This is a brand new 2010 model and just a week old. Do i need to contact the dealer and get the update done through them if there is one available? Please advise. Thanks
Note: I checked NAVTEQ's website for the list of POI categories. I came across approximately 40 of them. However, the Mitsu has very few of them. Pharmacy category is missing in the navigation system. Anyone knows if there is a way to add lot more categories. Or is the navigation unit useless !!
