Default Mitsubishi Airtrek, Chasis no. CU2W-0102971, Engine no. 4G63 - Gearbox problem

Hi, i need your help. my car was leaking oil and i would notice little oil spills every time i left a parking spot. took it to a mechanic who said it was flywheel seal that was worn out and needed replacement. gave him the job which i thought would take a day but my car ended up being grounded for 3 weeks. apparently to get to the flywheel seal, you need to remove the gear box, so when they removed the gear box, the converter inside the gear box slipped out of its position, when the tied the engine back up it was too stiff and could not be cranked (even manually). they must have tried to force it to crank through ignition because it crushed the magnetic field of the starter and messed up the ATF oil pump. it took the mechanic 3 weeks to get another pump. however, even after he claims he replaced the pump, my car is not back to its optimum condition. i have to press on the accelerator pedal very hard to get it moving, and the movement isn't smooth. it jerks very aggressively when it starts moving. when moving at 5th gear and start decelerating, the gear indicator on the dashboard shows the gear is stuck at 3rd gear and the neutral light starts blinking. i have to stop the car, take the gear to parking, switch off and switch it back on to get to 1st gear. the mechanic (who i'm really pissed with) says i need to drive the car for 1000kms then go back to finer adjustment to get the car in its original optimum condition. i sought second opinion and was told that the oil pump is faulty and isn't building enough acceleration pressure hence the engine needs more power from the accelerator pedal and that's why it jerks. i don't know what to believe anymore. can anyone help?

I'm assuming you didn't take it to a dealership for the repairs, so this is what i'd do.

I'd go back to the mechanic and ask for some sort of list of what they did, as they worked on the vehicle. Should be somewhat detailed. Then, if possible, take this to a Mitsubishi dealership service department and ask them if what was done would/could produce the problems you are having. Basically, make sure you know all of what the mechanic is saying, and see if the dealership can verify what was done, is correct. If you can't get to a dealership, then I'd see if you can contact your country's Mitsubishi corporate rep. I don't know where you are located, so that's as good as I can help.

I do think something is not right. If you have to give it extra fuel to get it going...the mechanic didn't do something right.
