I have searched the forum and found no great answers for this...

My 1 key that came with my 2007 Outlander has a broken plastic casing. It keeps falling apart and the electronic pieces scatter. I want a back up anyway.

My dealership quoted me $185 for the key plus $97 to program it.

Can someone help me get this figured out without paying $300?

What does it look like? If it's one of these, they are all over ebay:

Or you can price a new cylinder not hard at all to replace and might be much cheeper. IE. Go to your scrapyard and pull one from there and pop it in yours...DONE !!!! That's what I did ... no charge for the new/used cylinder and keys... follow the instructions and your done...good luck.

 

^^ Nevermind the antitheft system which will prevent you from ever starting your car again if you go that route....
