How about just putting a blown fuse in the panel for the system that drives the limiter? A friend of mine did this. Then you can't be held responsible and it looks like it's a electrical problem and not something you were trying to disable. Buy the proper fuse and just burn it out and stick it in.

 

are the CAN bus. The entire vehicle's controls run on this data bus. Its the lastest version of the OBDII data.

for the particular speedlimiter in question, based on the description, it looks like it is tapping into the speedo or audio's SVC signal. so... no harm trying this: will turning off SVC, turn off the speed limiter? it probably won't, but being a simple test, why not give it a go?

 

Hi everybody yes it is connected to the twisted orange and white pair at rear of stereo odd thing is if you cut just one wire it still works and if you reconnect and cut the other it still works but if you cut both it stops working? traced the wire back to the CAN which is behind the speedo unit, and i must admit i was expecting these CAN things to be at least a module or something but all it is is a shorting block but if you unplug it all hell breaks loose it will start but not run it resets your trips and thinks all doors are open etc so it was reconnected and all works ok again the reason im going to great lengths is because i dont want the car to look tampered with but just like an intermittent fault or something i know its a bit sad but 3 in the morning on the motorway stuck at 68 mph is really depressing. i know it is basically a case of fitting a hidden switch or somehow dissconnecting those wires in a manner that can always be replaced, there is no fuse as it seems to be powered by the car electronics two wires on the stereo and two on the programming plug under steering column (RHD)
