Hi! I apologize if the answer to this question is obvious, but I'm new to this and I can't figure it out myself.

We bought a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander SE for our son. It has the blue tooth controls on the steering wheel to the bottom left (the talking face, phone, and hang up) so we thought it had blue tooth. We tried connecting his phone but nothing happened when we pushed the talking face. Does that mean that the car doesn't have blue tooth? If so, what can we do to add it? I've seen a few videos on this forum about installing a microphone and blue tooth module. If we installed the module and microphone, would the blue tooth work as if it had been installed in the factory? Would we need to do anything additional (like have a Mitsubishi dealership turn something on)? I pretty good at following instructions so I should be able to remove the stereo to install the module if that will fix this problem.

ask for if it came with Bluetooth or not I'm not really sure I would think that since the steering wheel controls are there it probably did however as many of the posts will state in this group it never was really that great to begin with nothing like what you would see in a 2018 car that has Bluetooth connectability. I have a 2007 so mine is a little bit older than yours bought it brand-new my Bluetooth worked up until about last year there is a module that goes bad it is underneath the radio and the dash about the size of two packs of cigarettes sometimes it's just a connection I have unplug and plug mine in several times throughout the years and got it to work but it might be a little more than you want to deal with the best option would be to take it to dare I say it the $tealer$hip. Even when the hands-free Bluetooth is working its a little underwhelming IMHO. but The outlanders are great cars they do have their quirks I have had mine since brand new in 2007 and I have had basically zero problems in 160000 miles aside from me running it into things and acting like a general idiot in the snow.

 

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to pull down the dome light today and see if the microphone is there. If not, I'm going to assume that it doesn't have the bluetooth module. I need to figure out a handsfree solution because my 17 year old son is driving the car, and I don't want him even tempted to hold his phone in his hand while driving.

 

Its funny because I have the same problem. I bought a 2011 Outlander ES. Mine has all the controls also, but I get nothing. Did you ever figure it out?
