Oil leak around filter help

Default Oil leak around filter help

so i have small leak and oil dripping from the filter . The filter is tight and its not coming from above that i can tell all is dry and clean. i had an amsoil filter that i just put on . i changed it and sent it back i havent looked to see if its still leaking has anyone had this problem or know what it may be and how to fix it ?
Outlander is a 2009 with 31000 and change

The usual reason for this is that the seal from the previous filter is still stuck to the metal of the engine and the new filter seal does not work rubber on rubber but only on metal.

If it still leak have a good look at the area for old seal and clean it well with a rag to remove all grime.

I had a 2001 Montero that always had the same problem, found that the OEM filter has a round gasket and most aftermarket filter have a square gasket that does not seal as well. Try either an OEM filter or check to see if you can find an aftermarket that has a round gasket (I found one and it worked perfectly, but I don't remember the brand...might have been Mobil 1)
