Default Outlander v6, engine oil change basic questions

Hi folks,

I own Outlander 3 v6 2017. I have an interest of changing the engine oil by myself. I was not able to find any you tube video regarding this engine oil change. I don't have any jackstands and today I checks if I can do it without jacking the vehicle and it seems possible. Have a couple of questions.

1.Is this the oil plug? Picture is taken from the left front tyre and in the background you can see the right front tyre?

2. If this is the oil plug what swrench size do I need? I read that it should be 21mm. I tried 21 mm but it was a bit bigger and slipping. I tried 19mm but it was small. I guess 20mm would be good (I need to take one to check). If it should be 21 I guess mine plug is damaged or not original.
3. I read that oil capacity is 4.3l. Everytime I bring it for an oil change they return the 5l bottle with 2 l inside. I am thinking the mechanics did not wait enought for the oil to drip. Should i expect at least 4 l to go out?

Thanks.
Wish you a good day.

The oil drain plug on your 2017 Outlander 3.0 V6 is usually located underneath the engine near the oil pan, not near the tires. If the 21mm wrench you tried is slipping, it might be worn or damaged, but 21mm is the correct size for most of these plugs—using a 20mm could round it off, so be cautious. Regarding oil capacity, the engine holds about 4.3 liters, but mechanics often don’t wait long enough for all the oil to drain, which is why they return a partially full 5-liter bottle. You should expect around 4 liters to drain out, but always check the oil level with the dipstick after refilling to be sure.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to locate the plug and figured out it is not possible or very hard to service without jacking the vehicle up. The size of the plug is 17mm. I bought car raps and jack stands and will do the service soon. I don't drive much but according to the service manual the engine oild should be changed 3-6 months. Mine is 10 months.
