So would there be feedback on the display if non-oem sensors are installed?

By the sounds of the pin set up, it would only be audible, once a module is plugged into that pin set, correct?

Pin#3: Ignition switch ON position and this pin activates to 12V
Pin#6 - Pin#9: Ignition switch ON position and these pins activate to 0V-8V (40 kHz pulse signal, emitted approx, every 125 ms)
Pin#10: Ignition switch ON position and this pin is 0V
Pin#11: Ignition switch ON position and this pin is 12V
Pin#12: Ignition switch ON position and Sonar switch ON and this pin is 12V
Pin#13: Ignition switch ON position and Sonar switch ON and this pin is 12V

Pin#6 - Pin#9 from connector C-125 is indeed responsible for transmitting electrical pulse signals to the rear sensors located in the rear bumper. The route is C-125, C-35, F-22, F-19, and the 4-sensors.

Pin#11, Pin#12, and Pin#13 of C-125 are the only pins that communicate with the Sonar switch (C-103). Pin#5 of C-317 is 12V (Battery) when the ignition switch is ON; and this pin is responsible for carrying current to C-125. Reversing maneuver signal is supplied through Pin# 1 in C-125.

From the above it seems that the “Parking” sensor aids are not just activated by the reverse event but also it is being activated when the ignition switch is ON and the Sonar switch is also ON. If this is true that means that the buzzer of the sonar switch will “sound” when an obstacle (e.g. another vehicle) approaches the test vehicle from behind when the test car is normally on the road at speed without any reversing actions.

My Outlander GT 2012 will be ready for collection about March next year, so I cannot experiment with the “parking” aid sensors. Comments appreciated.

Does anyone know if I purchase the OEM sensors/kit that are available on a 2012 Outlander would they just wire to the proper sensor cables at the back of gauge cluster of my 2011? or is there more than just the sensors or the kit?

Do they need to be enabled somehow via programming?

Has anyone tried? Do we know if the 2012 is pre-wired for sensors? Or would dealer or whomever installs them run cables?

The rear park sensor kit sold in the USA (i.e. MZ380465EX) or in Europe (i.e. MZ313934) uses the rear reverse lamp (i.e. when engaging the reverse gear) to power the rear sensor kit

Among many wires running from the front to the rear there are 4 wires that supposedly should connect to 4-sensors. The USA Outlander does not have any harness (bumper) to do the job. The European Outlander with rear parking sensors from the manufacturer has a rear park switch in the driver’s area that communicates with control unit C-125 to activate or deactivate the sonar/buzzer and the wires from this unit travel all the way to the rear of the car where harness connects to the radar sensors

Rear park sensor kits (front or rear or both) bypass control unit C-125 and the ETACS-ECU C-317

Members of the forum, with European Outlanders that come from the manufacturer with rear/front park sensor, should inform us of the path of devices that connect the sonar switch with the rest of the system including module C-125. The solution therefore could be to order (1) the sonar switch (8616A001 i.e. C-103; UK), (2) a connector that connects the sonar switch with Control unit C-125, and (3) the proper control unit C-125. Connector C-35 connects C-125.All the arrangement fits neatly under the instrumentation panel (driver side). By doing this, 4-wires amongst others wires will carry pulses to energize the sensors in a car with sensor harness. However a USA Outlander does not have any of the sensor harness at all, therefore this harness must be bought or constructed.
