2009 Outlander. How do you hook up the RCA input jacks to your IPod?
How do you program the audio system to recieve the IPod?
Thank you........

the RCA jacks should be facing the rear passengers at the lower back of the arm rest. you would need a y-adapter. male RCA to male 3.5mm.
and once plugged in, if you have the stock system, hold down the button on the deck that says MP3 on it.
i think it's the same one that says CD on it or it may be the one that says AUX. not 100% sure.

Plug in your IPOD with the 3.5mm mini jack to RCA Y-cable and then hold down the CD button on the stock radio for 2 seconds to switch it to the AUX input. You should hear your IPOD through the stereo system now.

I got a cable that hooks up to the dock connector. It allows you to control the sound only from the stereo, and in my opinion it gave me better sound too. I got it from amazon and it was only a few bucks.

how would the dock connector give you better sound than the 3.5mm jack?

I am not entirely sure, but to my ears, it sounds a little bit better.

i'm pretty sure it is the quality of the cable you bought. since it is analog, the cable quality plays a huge role in sound quality.
but otherwise the output on the dock output and the 3.5mm come from the same sound processor within the iPod.
i bought a cheapy y-adapter and so i have no basis of comparison.

abrcrombe,

Can you post the link to the website where you found this dock connector cable?

Thanks,

i have a rca to dock connector too but it's a cheat since it uses an adapter for the 3.5mm jack as the dock connector.
