Remote Start for 2008 Outlander

RE: Remote Start for 2008 Outlander
I don't think 3rd party will beat this one, especially if you talk of security. Doesn't 3rd party remote start kits bypasses the system's security for it to work? That's kinda dangerous especially if the car gets stolen. Especially that the Outlander will keep drive once the engine is started, even if you don't have the keys.

RE: Remote Start for 2008 Outlander
the size of the oem reciever for the remote start shown previous is imho an eyesore because of its size
i had my remote start installed last year, my installer put in a compustar 200fm 2-way system
as i previously mentioned, one of my emergency keys (just the key) is in the vehicle
without the fast key "box" my ignition **** wont even budge; when remotely started i need to put the emergency with the rf chip
OR step on the brakes and turn the ingnition **** (cna only be done with the FAST "box" on you
so in my case, it would seem that the security features in the vehiclewas left unchanged
so far i have not had any quirks or bog downs...fortunately
BUT having a chipped key in the car is still somewhat of an insecurity to me, thats why im looking forward for an oem transponder (whatever you call it)
there is one member in the forum that was able to put in a remote start using the PATS Mitsubishi bypass kit http://ifar.ca/en/products/pats_seri...-mitsubishi-4/
i forgot his forum handle though, but i remeber that he/she is located in SD

RE: Remote Start for 2008 Outlander
I received a call from my district rep who I had asked previously if the remote start would fit in the earlier models. He was told by engineering that there has been a ecu change and that it is only compatible with 2009 models. [:'(]

RE: Remote Start for 2008 Outlander
I wonder why, unless the Japanese 2.4L 2006 Outlanders were using a different ETACS ECU all along until today. Because that remote start kit was then sold as an accessory for 06 until now in Japan. Well, he could be right. Now that the 09s have rain sensing wipers, they must have used a different ETACS ECU. Maybe you could check the part # for the 09 ETACS ECU mitsupartsman, and compare that to the 07-08 ETACS ECU part # if they're different.

So I think the circuit design has changed as well, it's nice if we can get hold of an 09 service manual so we can figure out what's new. I am thinking that some of the ETACS ECU connectors have increased in pin numbers as well to accomodate all the added data input (e.g. auto-wipers).
