Reversing lights

Reversing lights
Hi there I wonder if anybody can help me. I fitted a Pioneer head unit some time ago, which has the facility to support a reversing camera. Fitting the camera is no issue, but I'm struggling to find a power source which changes once reverse is selected. Which will enable the head unit to automatically switch to the reversing camera.
I thought it would be a simple matter of tapping into the fuse for the reversing lamps. But this seems to be a constant live, no matter if the reverse lamps are on or off.
Head unit has the ability to detect either ground or live. I would prefer the feed to be in the passenger compartment near to the head unit if possible.
Thanks Nige.

I put a reverse camera in mine about 6 months ago. I'm certainly no auto electrician and just watched a couple of you tube videos. I do remember the power came from connecting into one of the reversing lights. When it comes on it powers the camera and this automatically detected by the head unit. Works a treat. If you're running the wire from the boot anyway is it not easier just to take power from the brake light.
Like i say I'm no expert but that worked for me
