Default Roof rack for 2014 Outlander

I want to get a roof rack for our 2014 Outlander. The dealer quoted me $265 for the crossbars and $150 to install them. $150? Really? Isn't it just a matter of bolting them on?

I don't suppose Yakima or Thule would make crossbars that fit, do they?

I have Thule Aeroblade crossbars fitted om my 2013 (yes, the 2014 chassis), fitted by the local Mitsubishi dealer for free... And yes, they are just to bolt on. I THINK I have the Thule Fit Kit KIT4030

I have these flush roof runners on my car. If you look on the inside of your flush roof runners, you find 2 and 2 plugs that you just pull out (first pull the center, then pull the plug) then the fit kit has 2 pins to insert into the holes before you screw the holder from the outside. Then, lock on the Thule covers, and you are good to go in about 5min.

Thanks. I just checked the Yakima web site, and it looks like they have a solution too.

Wondering if anyone has any updates to this thread. I'm looking for a rack for my 2014 outlander as well. Dealer quoted me $359 if I install. Looking online it looks like I can buy the OEM for $250. Would you go with OEM or a product like Thule. I've never owned a rack before so not sure if there's a difference between the products.

Plan on adding a cargo carrier to the rack for the family vacations.

Thanks,
Limitout

I'm very satisfied with the Thule Aeroblade.

The Mitsubishi OEM cross bars appear to be just a re-badged version of the Thule Aeroblades. I found the OEM at a good price, so I got those and installed them. If the Thule had been the better price I would've gotten those.

Default ROLA Roof Rack

I installed last week on 2014 Outlander Sport ES. Purchased online @ $292.00, took me about two hours for install. The kit came complete, fits into the four mounting points on roof. Just slide the rubber covers on the roof forward and off, mounting points are under the covers. Dealer quoted $345.00 for their roof rack (cross bars) plus labor. I liked the Rola I found online better. The Rola rack looks good and no wind noise!

Good luck,

I hope this helps the next person. I have a 2015 Outlander SE that has the rails that go down the side of the vehicle. I want the crossbars to utilize the roof rack. I went to the dealership and they ordered it for me. I received the MZ314636 crossbars. This is NOT the low profile bars shown in lots of the photos, that connect to the mounting points of the roof rack. This is a pillar crossbar set. I sent an email to THULE, since they are the manufacturers of the Mitsubishi genuine part. Im not sure if this set will work with the pre-installed roof rails the SE models have. The instructions only show how to install on non-railed ES models.
I did find the low profile rails on THULE's website. The kit for the 2015 Outlander with the rails includes:
1) TH7602B Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack - Fixed Mounting Points/Flush, Factory Side Rails - Aluminum - Black
2) TH7603B Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack - Fixed Mounting Points/Flush, Factory Side Rails - Aluminum - Black
3) THKIT4030 Thule Roof Rack Fit Kit for Podium-Style Foot Packs - 4030

The price is around $515

Hope this helps the next guy trying to find this info!

DEFINITELY helped the next person... THANK YOU!!

right now... I am leaning toward the Yakima RailGrab setup...

can be found online as a kit with 58" bars for $259 (no SKS lock included though)

Probably going this route because I don't have a hitch on the Outlander... my brother is a big bike guy, so I will borrow his bike racks that attach to the crossbars!!

thanks again!
