Default RX8 wheels on 2008 Outlander

Hey guys,

I have been offered some very cheap 18 inch OEM RX8 rims. Just wondering if anyone has done this before, any pics would be greatly appreciated. Would there be any issues I should be aware of?

Well the bolt pattern is the same, and the center bore is the same, so that's good.

It also appears to be the same thread size, but i would make sure the lug nut style is the same. Some lug nuts are conical, some are flat face etc..... The style of lug nut must be identical, but you can use mazda lug nuts instead of your oem lug nuts if you need to.

The only major issue i see is the width of the rim, they're freaking 8.5" wide compared to the 7" wide oem wheel on the outlander, this will be a problem.

The other major issue is the wheel offset, it's 45mm instead of 38mm. This means not only is the wheel wider, but it'll move the wheels closer to the strut assembly.

Even if you could fit the wider wheel, you would need too large a spacer to to fit your lug nuts onto the bolts.

I don't think they'll work on the outlander.

Bummer. I tried on a mates Mazda 6 wheels which I think has the same offset, these were fine so thought the RX8 rims may work as well.

So it's the width that will cause issues as the lug nuts won't fit? I didn't think about that.

Thanks for your assistance.

The width causes issues for fitting in general, as the wheel has to fit between the fender well and the strut assembly.

The massive offset requires you to use a spacer, but you can only use a 6mm spacer legally in most states, thicker spacers will cause you to not have enough threads on the hub bolts to screw your lug nuts on.

The mazda 6 wheels should fit just fine(7-7.5" wide), though they have about a 46-50mm offset. I would use a 6mm spacer to move them out towards the fender more so they look right. Other than that, you would just need to make sure the lug nuts are the same style.
