Should I use regular oil or synthetic oil on a 2013 Outlander sport? Should I change it every 7500 miles (that's what it shows up on my dashboard) but on the maintenance booklet, it recommends every 15,000 miles?

Conventional oil will leave a brown/black varnish all over the inside of your engine which will reduce the diameter of any oil journals in the engine. It also makes the formation of sludge much more likely. Synthetic oil will also last long, and maintain lubricity for longer.

There is NO WAY in hell that I would run conventional oil in a car for 7500mi, you're asking for trouble.

The reason they recommend it to be changed so high, is because it puts the vehicle in a 'low maintenance' category, which is total bull****.

Google the subject and do your research.

this is only my opinion, but you can use either, so long as you do not use the oil past its useful life. Synthetic has a longer life, so there is insurance there. My 3.0L likes Mobile1 and Pennzoil Ultra. I've done two Used Oil Analysis w/ TBN (3k more miles and I'll do another) and with the mentioned oil, my sweet spot is 7.5k miles. If you want to be sure you are not going past the useful life, get a UOA w/ TBN done and have some piece of mind. I know NAPA auto parts has a UOA program. I use Blackstone Labs, you get free sample kits online.

If you want to go conventional, you can change the meter on your dash to something like 5k miles. There is a how-to stickied.

Arrow Synthetic all the way.

100% Synthetic is the way to go check me out you wont regret it. 25,000 miles on the same oil and filter as well as a 5% savings in fuel.

A 25k oil change is ridiculous.

Alot of people also believed that being able to travel in an airplane was ridiculous as well. Being able to change your oil and oil filter every 25,000 miles is nothing crazy just research and technology applied correctly.

Show me an oil analysis after 25k showing (not a BMW that holds 10 quarts or something) that shows additive remaining.

I love amsoil too, but that's a long change. I go 8k on it, that's it. It's great insurance knowing it can go longer. Long term engine wear concerns me. Great oil.

Look in your owners manual or under the hood sticker,, it requires 0W20 weight oil.. Which only comes synthetic
Service intervals is somewhat a giveaway 7k-15k is not good for the Dino stuff
I have a 2011 and has been synthetic since day 1 (0w20)
