Default Snow WHEEL options (other makes are fine) for 2016 outlander GT

Hello all,

Wife just bought a 2016 Outlander GT and we have good 17 inch snow tires on Dodge rims.

So far I’ve learned this outlander has a 5x4.5 bolt pattern (5x114.3) but it’s unclear if it has a +38 or +45 offset. I haven’t taken a wheel off to inspect it.

I don’t want to buy steel wheels and I don’t want to buy brand new aftermarket alloy wheels. I found her previous set used for $300 for all 4 wheels but they are Dodge and don’t fit.

Does anyone know what other wheels would fit the Outlander GT (Lancer, Galant, Subaru, Mazda, etc.) AND be 17 inch instead of the OEM 18 inch?

This is all I could find:

Thanks,
Tony

I have a 2010 GT and this is my wheels.

On stock 18" wheels for the Outlander
the bolt pattern (PCD) is 114.3,
the centre bore is 67.1mm,
the rim width is 7" (JJ for 4x4's J for normal cars)
and the offset is 38mm.

The 2nd and 3rd (current) generation Outlanders have been shipped with wheels of 38 mm offset in North America. Lancer, Eclipse, Outlander Sport, and the 1st generation Outlanders came with wheels of 46 mm offset. All models mentioned require 67.1 mm center bore and besides the 5x 114.3 mm bolt pattern this is important if one wants bore centered and not lug centered wheel fitments. I am attaching documents listing 16, 17, and 18" OEM Mitsubishi wheels (manufactured by Enkei). One can install any of those for the Outlander that has at least 6.5" wide rim. Please use the following website to configure your set:

wheel-size.com
Change the width and aspect ratio and you will see the change of suspension geometry. For safe mounting it is not recommended to use tires wider than 215 mm on a 6", 225 mm on a 6.5", and 235 mm on a 7" wide rim. Try to set up your wheel/tire set that yields zero or minimum scrub radius to maximize stability both at acceleration and braking.
For absolute identical geometry one must stick with the one of the listed wheels that has 38 mm offset and either 215/70/16, 225/65/16 or 225/55/18 rubber. The 38mm vs 46 mm offset is not significant and can be made it work considering the above criteria.

Aftermarket wheels all have larger center hubs, so you will need hub rings (not cheap) to maintain the bub centered geometry. One can read arguments against using hub rings online, so if one wishes to use aftermarket wheels, at least should be informed about the possible consequences. The listed OEM wheels can be acquired from Craig's list, ebay,, or from junk yards for decent price.
As for using wheels from other cars, go to wheel-size.com and search "by vehicle". You may consider wheels from any model that has 67.1 mm center bore, 5x114.3 mm bolt pattern and around 38 mm offset. This website is your absolute guide.

Thank you both for replying.

Claude, I have a set of 18 inch wheels but my snow tires are 17 inch. I see you have +38 offset but in other posts/info I've read the 3rd Gen GT has +45. Guess I'll have to remove a wheel to check.
PS Tire Rack shows me wheel options and they are all between +40 and +45 offset.

AWC, thank you for the info. I'm actually a Subaru enthusiast and I'm building a rally car. I fit 16 inch wheels on my WRX (OEM 18 inch) so I'm aware of all the different sizes, options and suspension geometry changes.

I DID notice in your 16 inch Mitsubishi PDF that Mazda and Hyundai were mentioned as possible candidates. I bought aftermarket rims for my Subaru (16 inch 5x100 with hub rings) and they have performed excellent in the last 100K miles. (I have 2 sets).

I'm new to Mitsubushi and was merely asking in case someone knew off hand, "oh yeah I slapped some Mazda 323 17 inch rims on my Outlander GT" or, Hyundai Santa Fe has rims that are 17", 5x4.5 an +38 offset.

My WRX brakes are smaller so I could get away with -2 inches in size. There are even 15 inch rims that fit my model of WRX. I'm looking for alternatives that I can search a junk yard / body shop and get some decent used rims in 17 inches for our Outlander.

Thanks again, and if anyone knows of any particular models, please list them! Otherwise I guess I'll do some searching and post back!

My 2010 is definitely +38 offset and so are the 16" steel wheel I use for winter tire.
The other post by AWCAWD is the best reference you can have

Of course if Hyundai is good than Kia will be OK (e.g. Sportage: 6.5x17 ET 46, 5x114.3 mm, CB:67.1mm) as well. If you want 17" wheels look for Jeep Compass alloys. Those would be a nearly perfect fit (6.5x17 ET 39, 5x114.3 mm, CB:67.1mm).
15" wheels would only fit with spacers and then you have to install wheel arch extensions (fender flares) most likely.

Chrysler 200 wheels are nearly identical in spec to the 2016 SEL OEM wheels. I'm going to paint them black and mount a set of new 235/60/18 Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires.
