Hey all,

Has anyone done Sound Deadening in their Outies? Not that the vehicle is noisy, just to make the already awesome sound system sound even better... I searched the forum, no hits...

I am actually thinking of doing that... I know of a lot of Japanese who add thick layers of deadening material to the doors, hood and rear sub area. I can hear too much wind sound for my liking when I am on the highway...

 

strange i find it remarkably quiet in the vehicle as it is. what year of vehicle do you have?

 

I have to agree with you, it is remarkably quiet in my 2008. I want this material for even better/cleaner sound from the sound system.

The previous poster mentioned wind noise. I have virtually no wind noise. Even if there were, this material would not solve that problem. I read somewhere that 2007 models had a plastic piece that needs replacing on the outside mirrors that cause air disruption. The 2008 does not have this problem.

 

I have a 2008 Outlander and it bothers the crap out of me to hear outside noise in the highway when I am trying to get nice clear sound.

 

2007 model here, and it can get fairly noisy on the highway. Almost to the point where I can be using the bluetooth and people have a difficult time hearing me.

 

if you have a problem, i use dynamate and have had great results. for a cheap fix, i have done the tag with that double sides foam tape or i have even used that foamy rubber mesh pad that you line your cabinets in your kitchen with. on a stereo one time i even shoved a shop cloth between plastic to make it quiet

I got my Outtie in June, but I just check and there is no foam in there. I am going to do this, and HOPE that it makes it quieter in the cabin. Thanks dekodan!!

 

i had my doors deadened as part of my sound system upgrade
i did it mostly to improve sound quality rather than noise reduction, but it did bring road noise down a bit
i used a dynamat bulk pack which was ample for all the doors
but if you want better noise reduction you have to insulate the floor and as much of the inner firewall as you can
the main trade of of the quiter interior is a slightly heavier outtie
