Default Sounds like chains dragging?

Sorry if there is already a post about this. I'm new to this forum and drive a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander.

Whenever I drive, it sounds like there are chains dragging. I've double checked underneath and I don't see anything. The problem happens when I'm coasting or accelerating. When I hit the brakes the sound seems to stop but as soon as I hit the gas, the sound reappears. Any idea what might be causing this?

Ok, so in describing your experience a couple things come to mind.

Whether coasting or accelerating removes the drive train from the equation because when you hit the brakes the noise stops, therefore it must be either something in the brakes or close to the brakes. (otherwise the noise would increase/speedup or decrease/slow down with the engine speed)

Sometimes, pieces of debris get caught in the brake area, there could also be a problem with a loose piece of hardware that it pressed upon by the braking system and thus preventing the noise.

Either way, I would get to a brake shop right away for a full inspection

Default Fixed it!

I changed my brakes and rotors over the weekend and the sound is gone. It was definitely something going on with the brakes. Thanks for the reply!
