Stubby Antennas
All-
I wrote about this in the Sharkfin Antenna post, but thought it would be better to start a new thread. Anyway....has anyone found a stubby type antenna that correctly threads into the fixed Outlander housing? According to my manual there are two types of antennas on Outlanders - (1) the moveable type on vehicles with NO Sirius capability and (2) the fixed type that have Sirius. Mine is the fixed-type and I am unable to fit my 2008 Outie into my garage. If I could only cut the antenna height in half, that would be great. The problem I have been having is finding a manufacturer that has posted the actual dimensions of the flared/screwable end of their antennas. My OEM antenna screws down into the base - I'd like for it to be the same...
Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

Wow, must not be a big garage. I mean the outtie isnt even that tall, even with the antenna. So theres no way you would fit with a roof rack, or a suburban or full size pickup in there.
I'll have to check next time. But I have Sirius and I was pretty sure that the antenna was bendable...
I noticed the other day that the antennabarely clears my garage as well. Maybe I'll look into this.
The antenna looks nearly identical to my old Jetta..so I'm guessing same supplier..and it wouldn't shock me to see that VW stubs would fit
Cougster: Is there any reception difference with the stub? Not that it matters so much with the Sirius

Yes,
My garage is uber-low - like less than 6'4" - hence the reason I ALWAYS hit my friggin head on the way out of the garage. Anyway... My antenna is bendable, but the rear side of my garage door has a plethora of diagonal steel struts running criss-cross across the back surface. I can get INTO the garage, but not OUT - OUCH...sucks to be me...
I know some of these smaller antennas fit, but I'm more interesting in knowing if they fit "down" into the receptacle and NOT floating out over the top of the Sirius housing. Guess I'll just have to call the suppliers and get and actual outer dimension of the antenna bases. oh well...
