Default Is there a way to keep your phone paired to the Bluetooth system?

I just got a 2007 XLS. Absolutely love it. Quick Bluetooth question. I am the only driver of the car. Is there any way to keep my Blackberry paired with the BT system without going through the "Setup" "Select Phone" "Select 1 for Jim"
You've selected Jim", etc. steps? Kind of a pain to do this every time you turn off the car.
Thanks!

Judging by the fact your car resets the clock intermittently, I'm guessing its also causing that issue as well. There is something interrupting your constant +12V from the battery. Bad battery perhaps? Had it checked/topped up recently?

I don't think the two are related. It's not that the phone connection is lost. It's just that every time I turn the motor off I have to go through all the steps again.Looking for a shortcut.

You shouldn't have to, it should remember it. There is a problem where it resets intermittently every few months, but not every time. You either have some serious electrical problem or a bad battery.

I agree. I have only paired my device the very first time. never again. that was about 9 months ago. it does sound like the stereo is not getting a constant power.

I have a 2008 Outlander XLS with the blue tooth adapter. I've had several phones used with it. My old Nokia and one of my Black Berry's did fine and always stayed connected to the system.

Unfortunately, for the last two years I've had nothing but bad luck keeping anything else connected to it for longer than a few key turns. I do not think it is an electrical problem. It seems to be an issue with the Blue tooth unit software and our phones software. I have posted just like you did on this forum and was pretty much told the same thing.

If you find out something different, please let me know. My truck is still under warranty and I now have a cigarette plug that probably needs warranty work so I am just dying to drive the 150 miles to the dealership if they will fix them both! ;-)

I did just have the battery changed, so hopefully that will solve it. When I turn on the car now, will the bluetooth system automatically pair with my phone?

"Pairing" is a one time process.

You should never have to pair it again.

All the subsequent communications between the phone and the car should be called "connections"

Make sure your BB device is set up to Discoverable = Yes.

My BB was set up to Discoverable = 2 minutes and it kept on behaving like what you are describing, if I remember correctly.
