I was out on the weekend taking the 2011 Outlander XLS-AWD for a test drive. The Outlander is in my list of potential vehicles because it has a third row. I know the third row is small and not very useful, but in my situation it is needed on the rare occasion. The sales guy told me that the seat has a weight/height limit. He said to use the seat the person has to be under 5 foot 2 and under 140 pounds.

This is the first I have heard of this and looking on the Mitisubishi website and other sources I am unable to confirm this limitation. Can anyone confirm whether this is true?

 

Having one of he very models that you are looking at, I can tell you that it would be a real challenge for anyone over 6 ft. There is really not a lot of room. My wife calls it the child abuse seat. (Both of ours are grown up and on their own).

The up side is that it comes with the trailer towing springs, which arfe a little stiffer than the standard. If you plan on towing, all you need is the hitch (Curt bolt on) and the Mitsu trailer connector harness and you're good to go.

The sales guy never told me about any weight/height restrictions.

Owners manual gives a warning that occupants of the 3rd row seat should not be more that 63 inches tall. There is really not that much room. The seats back there should have a smiley face on them.
