Default Third Row Seat Head Rests ???? WHERE???

Where can I store my 3rd row headrests in my 2013 Outlander SE?
They ALMOST fit into the cubby behind the third row seat in the "wall" - but not quite.
There is no obvious place within the seat itself when folding it back down.

The place I bought the car from gave me a 2014 manual and won't give me a 2013 manual, so I can't check that. (The 2014 manual says to put them inside the seats - but they don't fit in this case.)

So, where do they go? Is there a trick I'm missing?

Mine is a 2014 and they store under the cargo area mat.

Thanks - but that doesn't apply to mine.
I was at the dealer today for something unrelated - and he showed me how to store them.
Thanks!

in my 2012, they lie flat on the seat bottom then the back gets folded down and latched.

That's funny - because the 2013 is different.

There's actually a snap-lock where you snap them into place in the back-rest itself (weird - since it is the back-rest.)

Mine is a 2013 SE also.

When you lay them flat as described above, there is no real place for them and I could see that the metal inserts would cause pressure gouges in the seat which I wasn't willing to do. I was happy there was an actual method to hide them away without doing any damage.

2013 isn't different. All 2010-2013 snap in to the seat back like that. Every time you fold the seat up, you pop them off and push them in to the holes on top. Oddly enough, the 2007-2009 headrests were hinged and just folded up. Much more convenient. I'm not sure why they changed it.
