Towing a 18' Pontoon?
08 Outlander XLS 2wd 3.0 V6 had about a year and a half with 34000 miles now.
Buying a an 18' Pontoon boat weighs about 1750. I've got an older truck that I can tow it with easily but was wondering if anyone has towed one with the Outlander and how well it does?

I have towed around 3500 pounds with the outtie and it has performed just fine. In 4wd it had plenty of torque to get our boat out of the launch area and take four people home with it. So i think you should be able to tow your pontoon boat. Im just not sure how the 2wd will effect your ability to pull the boat out of the water. In terms of pure power, the v6 should have enough.

Page 9-7 of the 08 owner's manual gives vehicle weights and towing capacity. For a 2WD V-6 the max towing weight is 2,000 pounds. Another thing you may want to check out is vehicle capacity weight (passengers and all cargo) before you head out to the lake with your Pontoon. That's also on page 9-7. The tongue weight of the trailer has to be included in the vehicle capacity weight along with passengers and all cargo. Page 4-14 of the owner's manual talks about towing a trailer.

Thanks for the reply's, I know what the book said, but was also looking for any personal experience's of how well it does that close to the maximum and just in general how well the outlander seems to handle towing.
Thanks to all
