Default Transfering mp3 to music server

Just got my XLS with the nav system...Way Cool.

I have a large mp3 collection on my PC and I would like to transfert it to the music server.

I tried putting the MP3 on a CD. It plays fine, even shows the folders and IDtag, but I can't seem to be able to transfer them.

Is it possible? or do I have to insert every single CD they come from?

Thanks.

I was only able to get songs on the HD with audio files...very slow too! I have the HD filled and have my 80GB iPod too. Music is everything!

Where you able to update to CDDB database?

In the manuel it says you could go to the gracenote site to get the upgrade disk.

Did not find anything of interest there.

I made sure all my tags and shizz were cool in iTunes so I had no problem. I never checked out the site.

Can anyone verify how much space is on the HDD for music? I've read anywhere from 6GB to 25GB, don't want to waste the time adding songs that I'll just end up removing due to space.

it's a 30GB HD...I'm pretty sure we only have about 10GB to use. My old Pioneer was a 30GB and the Navi took up 20GBs.

I read it was a 30GB hard drive with 24 dedicated to the Nav. So 6 would be avalible for the music server. I did also read that even though it ony recods cd music it compresses it when its recorded.

... and void your warranty?

It's a proprietary system. It's extremely likely that the only way to copy music to the hard drive is to rip them from original music CDs.

There are alternatives, however (such as creating a music DVD). Previous posts explain this in more detail.

Regarding your Gracenote question..

I contacted Gracenote and they told me I needed to contact Mitsu.

The first call to Mitsu I was told to contact Sirius. I then explained this had nothing to do with them and I was then read the specs of the audio system.

I called back the next day and was told to go to Radioshack. I explained they had nothing to do with this and was then told to go to office depot because they sell software.

I called back again and was told that it was in the manual.. I explained that it only says you can update it but not from where. Again, a useless call.

So let me know if you find out anything.
