Exclamation Turbo Failure & DPF rebuild

Hi,

I was just after some peace of mind really , I have a Outlander 2011 GX4 and on Sunday it seems the Turbo failed.

Now some background on my wheels of steel, I have owned the car from a year old and into the 3rd year the timing chain broke - This led to having new engine build by Mitsibushi !!!! Now on Sunday just passed it seemed that the turbo had failed (the engine now has only done 40K 'ish)

I have taken to the garage and they have outlined to me that I am need of a new Turbo and the DPF rebuilding/Cleaning - along with the other odds and sods oil, gascets , pipes and such.

I pull a caravan and have done now on and off for the length of ownership of this car - But I am at a loss to why this would have happened , as most people including the AA fella, said that the turbo should never have failed.

I wondering if there is an answer to why this has happened as there has been no warning of it happening i.e. - high revving , loss of power or black smoke.

Thoughts would be most welcome...

...maybe it was assembled on a Monday/Friday....

how often has the oil been changed? I'm not too familiar with the diesel, but have heard of guys allowing the engine to run when you get to your destination for 15-30 seconds to allow oil to circulate through and cool the turbo down. Shutting it down immediately may leave the turbo in a very hot state, cooking the oil a bit, leaving deposits to grind with at the next startup. I've heard some engines will circulate oil after the engine is off to prevent this...but again, not familiar with this setup.
