Turn DRL on/off with switch?
Totally agree with Klevy09, when I drive people start flashing on me because they think I have left my lights on! During day time, there is so much light that the DRL simply becomes useless!!! I like to turn them off to!

I have been using this harness and it really works.

Are the DRL a N. American item only? What are the Japanese/Euro Outlanders set up as? I know it was nice to be able to turn off my lights at will, since it was habit to turn them off at night in stopped traffic. I wish they were tied in with the gear selector, so when you were in any gear except park they would turn on. No need to completely dis-able them. Also, if your insurance gives you a discount and then you have an accident, and your DRL's were off, that might be an issue as well (when lawyers get involved the complexity goes up 100 fold).

I have 2010 XLS and was unaware of the constant on function (many of the earlier cars I have has had a set of "secret" button push, lever pulls to disable) of the DRL at the time of purchase. I understand that it is a safety feature, but a method of turning all the lights off would be a handy thing to have when not in a situation that effects the public at large.

In Australia DRLs (parking lights) are user selected. It is not even legal to drive with them on during the day. Headlights are ok and recommended though. Fog lights are a booking offence unless it it raining or foggy and are not allowed to be on at the same time as the headlights at any time ($98 fine and loss of points) I fact driving in the rain or fog without lighs on is illegal. Not a commonly known fact over here but just ask a police man as he is booking you.We also dont have those silly TPMs.
Install the hid bulbs 9006. Install a relay harness with a capacitor on the relay. points 85/87. Ones positive ones negative.
DO NOT DISABLE YOUR DRL lights!! Take a peice of wire from the positive terminal on the relay that powers up your hids, Run that wire to the Cigerette lighter fuse in the front fuse box. and not the incoming signal wire from the factory plug. push the fuse down with the wire.
Now you will have HID low beams, that dont flicker. The drls become your lowbeam, so when you start the car, it turns on automatically. When you hit your highbeam, you will have both low and high beams on at the same time. If you want to turn off DRLS to run the car without the hids blasting out at people. turn the manual **** one click.
and Voila. Works on all cars with a DRL lowbeam. Now stop disabling your safety features. I've done this in numerous cars with 100% success. I will be doing an outlander this week. If I have time, I'll load pictures for people as a guide. Good luck in the mean time.

Adding the switch and relay allows you to control the drl's like fogs. I personally would like them on all the time.
