Turn DRL on/off with switch?
#21
I was responding specifically to jolyrgr:
My job requires that I be able to watch my employees and test their work habits. Many times, I need to be able to drive in to a remote area undetected, and that means turning lights off so as not to be seen. While I can use the parking brake method after I get to a suitable spot, I cannot always get into position first. Then there is the issue of being spotted as I leave...

Removing the bulbs was not an option as I do not have HID lights. The DRL function is just a reduced voltage sent to the driving lights. My solution was to run a relay to each side with a spare set of harnesess, and trigger off of the marker lamps. The only "damage" to the factory harness is the tap for power placed on the marker lamp wire. If I want the DRL working, I just turn to the first position on the headlamp switch. Otherwise, they remain off when the switch is off, just like any pre-DRL vehicle.
Best of both worlds as best as I could make it. 30min of work and easily reset to factory condition.
