UK Outlander Diamond - iPod into MMCS
I hope someone out there can help!
I have just purchased a Outlander Diamond in the UK, it's the 2007-2010 model and is fitted with (almost) everything including MMCS and the Rosen Rear Entertainment System (RES), fitted by Mitsubishi UK on arrival in the UK.
Just about the only thing my other half wanted when I was looking at different cars was the ability to play her iPod in the car.... Oops!
However, the only way I can get a iPod to play is via the cable supplied with the RES (which is 3.5mm jack to 3 x RCA sockets) then to another cable (2 x RCA plug to headphone socket) into the iPod. As the cables are plugged into the RES they're dangling from the ceiling of the car, and there's no iPod charging going on!
I have the 3 x RCA sockets fitted at the base of the armrest, accessible from the 2nd row, but these (I understand) have been disabled to allow the RES audio to play on the AUX channel on the MMCS - even though the RES has a FM transmitter.
I have been doing loads of searches and reading on the forum (you know who you are!), and my options seem to be:
1. Live with it. - use the MMCS as an iPod (and type in all the Artists and Track titles that GraceNote doesn't recognise and yes, I have updated it!).
2. Install a Kenwood KCA-iP500 cable into the back of the MMCS following instructions previously posted, but the CD-Changer socket appears only to be available on the Austrailian market MMCS. So I can't do this on a UK MMCS - unless someone knows different?
3. De-activate the RES playing on the AUX channel and restore the armrest RCA sockets to the AUX channel and play the iPod through these - if I want the RES output on the MMCS I can use the FM transmitter function of the RES. How can I put AUX back to the armrest RCA sockets instead of the RES?
4. Is there any other way to get a 12v power connection (cigar / cigarette lighter as we used to call them) and a 2 x RCA plugs out of the iPod interface so it charges and gets better sound quality than using a USB charger and the headphone socket? I can then connect / butcher this to the armrest RCA sockets and armrest power supply and input into the AUX channel on the MMCS.
Thanks for reading!

I've also got a Diamond and don't bother with trying to connect an iPod I just use the MMCS as an iPod type player.
Rather than type in all the details on new CDs which GraceNote doesn't recognise I first import the CD to iTunes, then burn the songs to a new CD making sure you tick the box "Include CD text". This way the MMCS will import the song name data from the CD.

Great idea - thanks for the tip!
Do you try a CD first, then delete from MMCS and burn a copy if it's not recognised, or burn a copy anyway for all CDs?
The GraceNote update took it to version 2281 - have you any idea or worked out when this is valid up to, i.e. all songs before 19/06/2009 which is the date of the files in the update - or a bit earlier?

I'm not sure what date the database goes up to.
I would think it should be ok on most CDs up to mid 2009. When I first got my car I ripped a lot of my old CDs with the MMCS and didn't have a problem with it picking up the tracks. Any purchased in the last 18 months, downloaded from the iTunes store or MP3s made from vinyl I just use a rewritable CD with the text added. It's much easier than entering in the tracks manually via the MMCS. This way I can also make my own greatest hits playlists.
The CD has to be a audio CD, I don't think this will work if it is a MP3 CD.

I've seen the question posed by dashnine asked more than once but can't find a definitive response.
I also own a UK spec "Diamond" with the same issue, i.e., the audio inputs (RCA - back of centre armrest) have been hijacked by the Mitsubishi UK installed Rosen Z10 RES.
I want to be able to hook up a range of portable media players to the MMCS Aux input without wires dangling from the RES. Before I start removing hardware and trim, did anyone figure out where Mitsubishi UK cut the factory Aux audio wiring so I can reinstate it?
Thanks!

I was in same position the fix to return the audio / video to the rear av is very easy remove the stereo and it's quite clear that 3 or 4 wires have been cut and connected to different colour wires these go to the RES, you simple remove these connections and make good the original wiring configuration matching the same colour wires up, this will then give you the audio and video from the rear RCA connectors on the Aux on the MMCS. If you really wanted be clever a single throw 4 pole switch could allow you to switch between both however I was happy just to restore the original, why on earth Mitsubishi do this is beyond me, the RES works perfectly well via the RF tuner option.
Hope this helps
