Default Uneven front tire wear

A friend bought an Outlander new in 2007 and ever since has had problems with excessive front end tire wear. She has been told that a part is missing on the front end (????) that will not allow for a proper alignment. It has to be aligned by eye. She has 70,000 miles and has gone thru 3 sets of tires already. Any thoughts???

I've never heard such bull****. Who the hell told her that?

Go to another alignment shop and get a second opinion. If there's something that isn't there and it should be, they'll spot it. Make sure you write down what it is, that's critical.

Even with a perfect alignment, the car won't pull straight on those tires until they are worn in properly.

You must also remember to rotate every 15k. This is especially important with an SUV.

They could have said that there isn't a camber adjustment. That I am prepared to believe.

Basically it would cause the tires to wear heavily on the inside edge. The only way to rectify that is to keep rotating them when they start wearing.

Also, if your shocks aren't so great that'll cause them to wear faster too. As will many bushings in the front, etc.

My front tyres have been wearing on the outside, and i had had my tracking done and i also took it to hiq who ajusted the camber on the back but the camber cant be done on the front so i was told, but now they are wearing on the inside. Funny thing is my original tyres which were bridgestone that were on were ok and then when i got new ones which are continental they were ok for a few months but i am now having problems?????????
